What to Expect

The YachtMate way - from start to finish:

Initial contact will allow us to give a quotation based on the specifics of your yacht, the equipment, and your timescale.

We will put you in direct contact with our skipper most qualified and experienced for the type of yacht and passage.

You or your agent will meet the skipper onboard for a full handover.

Your skipper will, where possible, undertake a full visual survey of the yacht to produce a condition report, outlining the state of all the yacht's systems including a full rig check. The report will make recommendations where necessary to ensure the yacht is suitable for passage.

Your yacht will be prepared for transit. All available measures will be taken to ensure minimal wear and tear during passage. Depending on the duration of the passage this will usually involve:

  • Anti-chafing on the spreaders, and shrouds to protect the sails and halyards.
  • Spray hoods, biminis and other canvas removed to avoid ultraviolet degradation and damage.
  • Interior woodwork, surfaces, cushions and furnishings, and all galley equipment fully protected.

When conditions allow, the yacht will leave with skipper, first mate and the required number of crew to make best possible time to reach the destination, stopping only when necessary for refuelling, victualling and weather. Full details of the yacht's progress and stoppages can be requested on a daily basis.

Whilst on passage, pre-agreed routine maintenance will be carried out on boat systems, such as engine servicing, etc.

On arrival, the skipper will make any necessary arrangements for marinas, clearing customs, and so on.

The yacht will be given a full valet service, and the skipper will provide you or your agent with a final handover including the delivery log, details of the voyage and any problems en-route.
