Our Skippers & Crew

YachtMate has a strict policy on who can skipper, mate and crew for us. Firstly, all of our skippers must have over 50,000 nautical miles, delivery experience and must have completed at least one trip with one of our core skippers. Similarly, all first mates must have sailed with one of our skippers before.

We employ a variety of skippers depending on the type of yacht and passage. YachtMate only use fully qualified and, more importantly, experienced skippers that we have personally sailed with! YachtMate supply you with their CVs and the references that we feel are the most appropriate, and you can tell us which one you would like!

But to give you an idea, here is some brief information on a few of our favourites.

Dan

Dan:
Dan is one of our key delivery skippers. Both exceptionally experienced and extremely professional, he has been involved with YachtMate from the start. With over 50,000 nautical miles under various keels including seven transatlantic crossings, several laps of the Mediterranean, and too many Solent and cross-channel trips to mention, he has a wealth of sailing knowledge. When not on the water, Dan is busy with boat maintaince schedules and refit management and there are few aspects of boats that he doesn’t fully understand.

Em

Emily:
Emily is a real water baby, there are few places that she hasn’t sailed, with over 120,000 nautical miles covered! Emily’s sailing CV reads like an atlas, from running challenge boats to Antarctica to racing round Britain and Ireland, Emily has been in every ocean on the planet in a variety of boats and conditions. This year alone Emily has refitted and taken a classic across the pacific, three boats across the Atlantic, four across the Mediterranean, one from the UK to the canaries and several short hops, as well as still fitting in the solent season of racing and charter.

Ben

Ben:
Ben is a passionate sailor, with his most recent claim to fame being completing this years Fastnet race, one of the few to make it in one piece. A favourite skipper on the Solent scene, he is a well known as a careful and competitive sailor as well as having completed many miles on the Mediterranean and Canary delivery circuit, as well as transatlantic passages.
